Is anyone else surprised it's taken this long for the newly loose-lipped Tom Cruise to begin proselytizing about aliens?

Asked in an interview with the [German] tabloid daily Bild if he believed in aliens, Cruise said: "Yes, of course. Are you really so arrogant as to believe we are alone in this universe? Millions of stars, and we're supposed to be the only living creatures? No, there are many things out there, we just don't know," Cruise, 42, said in the interview published in German.

Given the fascinating quotes that German publications have recently coaxed from Cruise (surely we all remember the infamous Spiegel piece), we're forced to postulate the existence of a superior Teutonic interviewing technology. Then again, the same effect could probably be achieved with a trick microphone that shoots truth serum instead of water.
