Under the pressure of relentless cross-examination by the Cameron Diaz Legal Team, pre-fame Diaz mammary photographer John Rutter crumbled like a three-week old bag of cookies on the floor of a stomping convention, admitting that the now-famous signature on the Booby Model Release Form Heard 'Round The World might have been less than authentic:
Asked repeatedly by Deputy District Attorney David Walgren whether he now believes the signature is fake, Rutter said several times, "It looks like that."
The photographer also said that, because he expected Diaz to sue to protect her image and suppress the photos, he lied and told her and others he was living in Paris.
"It was a fabrication. I'm using it to protect myself against action that Diaz and her people might take," he said, acknowledging he also lied about the issue in a federal declaration. He hadn't been to Paris since 1997 and was living in the Venice section of Los Angeles at the time.
Rutter is expected to continue testifying today, when he will be browbeaten into an admission that he lied to the 19-year-old Diaz when he told the starlet-to-be that her breasts were "amazing," just before he handed her a can of freon and urged her to "get those puppies barking."
